Playing With Homescreens

Remember the days when we used to pimp our windows desktop with fancy wallpapers and gadgets? I wished I could do more of that before with my old Nokia symbian phone and  it cant be done on my iPod TouchAndroid came and gave users the customize the phone the way they want it , in any way they can.  Regardless of  versions and fragmentations, every android user is different and each have their own way of reflecting it on their phone. Lets start with the screen most bound to be customized, the home screen. The home screen is the main "desktop" in an adnroid phone, luckily, for us users, we have all the tools to make it our own.

Today, I have searched through the +Nexus  community in Google+ looking at how different users customized their homescreen. Regardless of the phone model that you have, I think all customizations shown below can be done. These, modifications, would require you to use a widget, perhaps a launcher and in some cases special apps like the "Tasker". The stock android 4.2 home screen can be seen above for comparison.

Simple Homescreens
This usually involves a little tweaking. Simple wallpaper change, app shortcut arrangement, downloadable icons  and a simple widget such as a battery and time widget shown below.

Images above are taken from the folllowing G+ users : Nauman Abdul Muqueeth, Ritchi Watson, Lorenzo Rey Camejo and Colin Francis Jones.

Not Your Ordinary Homescreens
This may include the use of another launcher, more advance widgets, speciale wallpapers, downloadable icons and launcher themes.
Images above are taken from the folllowing G+ users : Eric Goldhar, Matt McDowell, Eddy Hope, Gungl Akos, Nabeel Ameer and Noah Gianuzzi. I have to say the last two are pretty slick and sick. It definitely took some time to come up with such.

Other worth looking homescreens are shown below

Mine is simple, minimalistic and boring :-)

Go ahead and play around with your home screen. I tell you, it is addictive and brings out your creativity. Try out different launchers, widgets and apps to satisfy your requirement. I would love to see it when its done.

UPDATE : A facebook friend saw this article and directed me to MyColorScreen website. The site contains a lot of amazing homescreens. Feast ON!
